Job Description

Summary -

Facilitates and enables success of the sales organizations within a vertical market for Education IT solutions.  Creates and manages comprehensive plans to address sales to the vertical market as an industry subject-matter-expert.  Collaborates with product management, marketing and other departments to produce business plans to grow sales of innovative solutions into the segment. Responsible for uncovering, qualifying, defining, proposing and closing new sales orders in line with the Company's business objectives and within profitability guidelines established by the Company. Responsible for driving revenues and sales growth oppertunities to meet organizational targets by ncreasing the sales and activity within the education vertical.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

Oversees the strategic direction and business plan for NEC’s presence in a vertical market for Education IT solutions.  Creates plans for both incremental and quantum sales growth.  Drives revenue to organizational targets.

Supports vertical solution-selling efforts with sales training and sales tools.

Provides consultancy support to formulate appropriate strategies for large and complex sales opportunities.  Participate in meetings with executive-level customer & prospect representatives as the subject-matter-expert for the vertical industry.

Works with Marketing to drive successful industry-focused solution strategies and programs to maximize market position and financial performance for the segment.

Provides requirements for market analysis of industry trends and analysis of existing customer base analyze to leverage successful installs into scalable solutions for the general market.

Works with Marketing and Product Management to formulate solution-oriented launch plans, road shows and content for sales training. 

Identifies prospective customer references, interface with customer and Marketing to gain approval for development and publication of reference materials.

Conducts industry-level presentations, press interviews and consultant/analyst meetings to spread the word across the industry about NEC’s presence in the market.

Works with Marketing to drive appropriate lead generation campaigns. 

Prepares periodic and ad hoc reports to keep management informed of sales progress within the vertical market.

Evaluates market, contribute requirements for new solutions to complement existing solution sets including recommendations for third-party partnerships.  Interface with Product Management to support product, application and service growth.

Continuously researches the vertical industry trends, markets, complementary products and competitive products.

Builds industry relationships to grow awareness of NEC’s strength in the market.

Prerequisites -

Education:         Bachelors Degree or equivalent, MBA is a plus.

Experience:        A minimum of 8 years or more experience working in Education IT solutions in administration, operations or business development is required. Keen understanding of business issues facing the specified vertical industry is a must. Knowledge of technology used in the specified vertical’s operations & management is desirable. Required extensive knowledge of Education vertical market, Ability to maintain excellent relationships within Education vertical market & to work with sales team and customers to present and drive sales

Specialized Knowledge and Skills -

Language Skills: Requires excellent relationship building, interpersonal and communications skills, including verbal and written communications.

Mathematical Skills:       Basic

Reasoning Skills:              Individual must be self motivated, customer centric and a team player. Excellent customer service & business communication skills

Computer and/or Technical Skills:            Must be proficient in MS Word, E-mail, PowerPoint and Excel to create effective sales presentations and business analysis.

Supervisory Responsibility, if any:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but leads others across NECAM to build and maintain the vertical practice for Education IT solutions.
