Job Description

Software Engineer

C++ programmer with solid development skills - analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.

Experience & Qualifications

5+ years of experience in developing multi-process and multi-threaded applications in C++ for Linux.

Excellent Object-oriented design & programming skills.

Incredible coding and debugging skills (debugging issues at production is a must).

Must have used STL, Boost and other major C++ libraries.

Experience in XML/JSON parsing.

Experience in writing networked applications.

Experience in shared memory and other IPC facilities on Linux.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with on DVCS, preferably mercurial.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and execute designs of new functionality as part of the software projects.
  • Develop and unit test code for NEC’s Advanced Recognition Systems projects.
  • Develop and maintain components, frameworks, libraries to promote code reuse, software scalability, and performances.
  • Provide input to team members to help resolve issues and answer questions related to application program intent, data input, output, and requirements.
  • Lead and contribute to team discussions including design sessions, code reviews, etc.
  • Execute performance optimization and testing.
  • Assist with software release and build management
  • Assist testing and QA teams in setting up test environments and resolve build issues
