NEC Enterprise Communication Technologies, Inc. (“NECECT”) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation.  The company develops and supports a wide range of solutions, including Unified Communications, Software-defined networking, Video Analytics and IoT.

Description:  NEC is seeking for an experienced Product Manager Sr. for the role of NEC Cloud Product Line Management.  This individual will have technical and marketing experience related to SaaS and Cloud-based solutions. Join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams to design, build and roll-out Cloud solutions and products, translate ideas into strategies that deliver NEC’s  vision and strategy, follow product development from start to finish and manage each product/solution throughout its entire life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy
    • Analyze market trends to develop new products.  Includes market sizing, competitive analysis, value proposition development, etc.
    • Gain a deep understanding of targeted customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth
    • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners
    • Develop product pricing and positioning strategies
    • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes
  • Roadmap Development and Execution
    • Develop the product roadmap to scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact
    • Work closely with engineering development teams to deliver with quick time-to-market and optimal resources
  • Product Launch
    • Drive product launches including working with marketing, sales, executives, channel partners, and other product management team members
    • Develop and evaluate promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with product line strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed
  • Ongoing Product Line Management
    • Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding
    • Act as the primary product subject matter expert from all angles including but not limited to technical, sales, marketing, and functionality

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

20% Respond to customer inquiries, requests and RFXs.

15% Defines product specifications and reviews product development roadmap.

10% Operate NEC Cloud products and equipment for customer lab and field trials.

5% Review NEC product manuals and general technical literature.

5% Present products to customers.

20% Evaluate and test NEC Cloud Products and equipment in NEC lab.

10% Take products through certifications (NEBS, MEF, etc.).

5% Support tradeshows (e.g. NxtComm) – product demonstrations, booth and equipment setup.

5% Provide training to Sales and customers.

5% Provide support to NTAC and customers.


  • Proven work experience in product management or similar environment
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle:  Must be able to take a complete new offering, learn it, release it, and help increase the sales on it.  This starts from basic business case studies all the way to getting the product completely released out the door with the proper training, sales collateral, etc., in place
  • Demonstrated ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience sufficient to become the product expert
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams as well as with channel partners and/or end users
  • Understanding of back office operations (ERP) including the creation of new parts (material ID’s) understanding of cash flow, tracking of monthly billings, churn, and flow through to channel partners and customers
  • Ability to “teach” the value of cloud and recurring revenue business models to sales teams and channel partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create and deliver presentations to internal teams, channel partners, and end users
  • Experience and ability to perform live demonstrations in person and via web collaboration
  • Experience or ability to create documentation, training videos, white papers, etc.

Prerequisites -


Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent


Minimum of five years telecommunications/data communications engineering/cloud products or product management experience required.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills -

Language Skills:

Must speak and write English fluently; must be able to present products, concepts, and solutions to small and large audiences.

Mathematical Skills:

Must have strong mathematical skills for engineering analysis; must have at minimum B. Sc. Engineering degree or equivalent product management experience

Reasoning Skills:

Must have clear, logical, and methodical approach to developing and presenting solutions to customer problems

Computer and/or Technical Skills:


Work Environment and Physical Demands -

General Work Environment:

Must be able to travel domestically and internationally; stay, if necessary, short term at customer location during customer evaluation of NEC products; must be able to proficiently operate personal computer and MS Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word


Must have good hearing to communicate effectively and professionally with customers; infrequently, must be able to work in a telecommunication lab or data center environment with loud air conditioning or equipment


Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs (telecommunication and test equipment).


Must have good vision for reviewing documents, driving, traveling, and operating telecommunication equipment in the lab or in the field.


Very stressful when there is large and complex RFx or problem with short response period from customer
