Job Title:

Sales Director - Channel

Summary -

Maximizes the revenues of an assigned sales region while minimizing expenses through the direction of a field sales team. Is responsible for managing a group of Solutions Integrators and coordinating resources to assist sales teams within those Solutions Integrators to sell NEC’s portfolio of solutions and services.  Develops plans and strategies to promote the success of field sales. Maintains effective communications with executives and managers across the company to ensure proper sensitivity to the needs of the field sales force. Responsible for resource allocation, including budget and personnel to meet company’s and BU's and department financial - sales - profit goals & targets. This incumbent is often responsible for a broad geographic region or a fairly large geographic area.  Holds a quota for Solutions Integrator’s success across the portfolio of IT products, services and applications..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

Oversees an assigned geographic area or product/service line to maximize sales revenues and meet corporate objectives.

      * Accurately forecasts annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue streams.

      * Develops specific plans to ensure revenue growth in all company's products/services.

      * Provides quarterly assessments of Field Sales, Solutions Integrator’s productivity and skills.

      * Coordinates appropriate company resources to ensure efficient and consistent sales.

      * Conducts long-range studies of changes in sales and strategies.

Directs and develops field sales.

      * Hires, coaches, reviews, rewards, motivates, disciplines, and terminates sales team members..

      * continuously evaluates effectiveness of sales team members and makes necessary changes accordingly.

      * Educates field sales in terms of sales techniques and tactics.

Establishes and manages effective programs and seminars to address the following issues.

      * New account sales and field sales growth.

      * Enhancement of field sales revenues.

      * Sales of emerging products/services.

      * Pro-active competitive strategies and targeted sales campaigns.

      * Proper use and level of sales support.

      * Management of sales department expenses.

      * Business/financial issues on contracts.

Prerequisites -


Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or marketing or equivalent training in business or sales management.


Usually requires 10 or more years of sales experience with five years of sales management experience.  Highest level of knowledge of company's products/services, pricing practices, and selling skills. Effective management skills with ability to manage a major portion of the company's field sales operations. Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, human relations, presentation, and organization skills. Professional appearance and presentation required.

Supervisory Responsibility, if any:  Sales Director’s ability to evaluate, coach, and motivate sales team towards a common goal will be critical to success.  Sales Director should be adept at understanding how to lead individuals towards a common goal.   Sales Director should set a strong example for their sales team at all times and be ultimately accountable for the sales team’s success.
