Summary -

Performs activities to develop, implement, and administer compensation and benefits policies and programs. Audits job content and prepares job descriptions. Participates in compensation/benefit surveys to analyze company’s competitive position. Reviews proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines and recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems. Recommends company salary structure movements, salary increase budgets, and FLSA exemptions. Prepares special studies and makes recommendations on compensation subjects such as incentive compensation, and reward plans. Administers and communicates the company’s benefits program plan options, features and enrollment requirements; assists employees with benefit claim administration inquiries. Analyzes cost containment strategies. Ensures company compliance with federal and state laws governing both compensation and benefits practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

65% Compensation

  • Carries out moderately complex analysis involving the development, implementation and administration of compensation.  Studies and analyzes jobs and prepares standardized job descriptions. Evaluates job worth using standard job evaluation techniques; determines grades and pay ranges. Participates in the development, updating, implementation, communication and administration of incentive programs and the administration of performance review and/or annual salary increase programs.  May perform cost analysis or modeling of alternative incentive plan design.
  • Maintains an on-going effort to ensure competitiveness, cost effectiveness, and equity of pay programs.
  • Participates in compensation surveys conducted by third parties.
  • Audits effectiveness of compensation programs.

25% Benefits

  • Working with providers and vendors and internal benefits team, resolves day-to-day issues. Utilizes online tools for administration and reporting purposes. Prepares annual compliance filings, testing and coordinates with providers and vendors.
  • Handles escalated employee issues as a second level of contact for employees.
  • Proactively audits effectiveness of benefit tools and programs and takes action to implement improvements and resolution where issues or shortcomings found.

  • Protects interests of employees in accordance with organization's policies and applicable pay and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Remains current on all personnel policies, programs and practices and stays informed of new and pending laws and regulations.

Prerequisites -

Education:

Bachelor's degree in business or Human Resources preferred.

Experience:

2+ years of experience in compensation and benefits.

Certifications, Licenses, etc:

Relevant professional certification(s) (Compensation, Benefits, HR) desirable.

     

Specialized Knowledge and Skills -

Language Skills:

Ability to communicate both oral and written.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to create and maintain intermediate to advanced math formulas.

Reasoning Skills:

Analytical

Computer and/or Technical Skills:

Advanced MS Excel skills.
